Penny Madison will not be opening her studio for Kalamunda Open Studios 2015
Penny Madison is a professional fine artist specializing in watercolour. As well as producing her own work she teaches watercolour at Claremont School of Art and elsewhere. She enjoys painting birds and animals but covers all subject matter from landscape to figures.
Penny has worked in Australia, UK, South Africa as Interior Designer and architectural draftswoman,
Became a contract draftswoman doing Architectural, engineering drawing and cartography
Painted fulltime since 1992.
Penny has participated in exhibitions of the Watercolour Society of W.A. and various other group exhibitions. A successful solo exhibition was held at Houghton Wines in 1999.
She was President of the Watercolour Society of W.A. 2004-2007 and vice president 2000-2004
Penny’s work hangs in collections in the U.S.A., Canada, U.K., France, Germany, Holland, Japan, New Zealand, Italy, and South Africa.

For many years Penny’s inspiration came mainly from the wildlife of Africa, particularly birds for which she was best known. However, in recent years she has concentrated more and more on landscape and architectural subjects. An enduring love affair with flowers and plants finds expression in large floral paintings and occasional side trips are undertaken into portraiture and still life.
Penny has specialized in traditional watercolour but a love of drawing is expressed in pencil drawings and pen and wash work.
She teaches watercolour painting at Claremont School of Art and workshops at various times and places.
She has tutored a painting trip to New Zealand and co-tutored a trip to the Greek Islands with Sandy Robertson. A painting trip is planned for the Australian Red Centre in 2010.
